The Four Part Blessing
Shared By Mark Flippo
This lesson is about a Shunammite woman being wise took care of the man of God. In 2 Kings chapter 4 verses 8-37 tells us the first two parts of her story.
Part One. Elisha would pass this certain woman's house on his trips.
This woman being sensitive to knowing a man of God invited him in to eat with her husband and her whenever he came through. She requested of her husband to build a small room that this man of God could rest in.
Elisha was very grateful for her kindness. He asked if there was anything he could do to bless her, the prophets servant spoke up and said she has no child. Elisha told her to expect a child by this time next year. She bore her first born son as the prophet had spoken.
Part two blessing was when her son was grown he went to help his father in the field. He grew ill and was brought home were he died. She took him and laid him on the prophets bed and shut the door. The woman rode until she found Elisha. He knew something was wrong. He understood after her beginning to talk that her son was dead. He told Gahazi to take his staff and lay it upon the child. He did so until Elisha arrived with the boys mother since it was along way off. The child had not stirred. Elisha placed his body upon the child and the dead boy began to get warm. The child sneezed seven times and was alive.
Part three in 2 Kings chapter eight tells the last two parts of her story. There was coming a famine upon the land. Because of her kindness she was warned. And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.
Now for the final part four. When she returned to her home someone else had taken over it. She went before the king to ask for it back but before she could do so Gahazi had already been there telling the king of the miracles that had happened to her family. By the time she arrived the king's heart was already prepared for her. He granted her the request and she received all of her land back!
The point of this lesson is to teach us to Honor the True Man and Woman of God! Knowing it is important for us to live in His will! It may save our life down the road!!
