Greatness In You

Alleged Bible Contradiction
1 Samuel 16:10-11 clearly implies that Jesse, the father of Israel's King David, had at least eight sons, of which David was the eighth. But 1 Chronicles 2:13-15 indicates that Jesse had only seven sons, and that David was the youngest. Which text is correct? How many sons did Jesse really have? And how can the Bible be trusted if you read one thing in one place and a totally contradictory statement in another place?
Sensible Solution
Both texts are no doubt correct. It is most likely that one of Jesse's sons died before making any significant impact during David's reign—thus being of no account to the chronicler.
1. David was of the tribe of Judah.
2. David was the eighth and youngest son of Jesse of Bethlehem. There is no record of David’s mother’s name.
3. Before he became a King, David was a shepherd as mentioned in 1 Samuel 17:15
“But David occasionally went and returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.”
4. As a young boy, David was known as a great warrior who killed the giant Philistine Goliath (Goliath of Gath).
5. David was the second of the Israelite kings (after Saul).
6. In Jewish tradition David became the ideal king, the founder of an enduring dynasty, around whose figure and reign clustered around messianic expectations of the people of Israel.
7. The romance of David and Bathsheba is one of the most famous love stories of the Bible (2 Samuel 11).
8. Almost half of the Psalms are headed “A Psalm of David”.
9. King David reigned over Israel for 40 years; 7 years and a half in Hebron and 33 years in Jerusalem.
10. David died at the age of 70.He was buried on Mount Zion.
Although David was a flawed man He was greatly used by God! Are you a flawed man or woman of God? Look what He did with David! Can you even imagine what He has is store for your life?
