One Dollar Buys
By Mark Flippo
Upper left photo was taken in Croatia - a large portion of ice cream. Upper right was taken in Egypt - serving koshary plate, which includes rice, pasta, fried onions, lentils, as well as a donut or falafel. Lower left was taken in Indonesia - Manado you can get a full meal with a piece of fried chicken, rice, vegetables, mineral water and fruit. Lower right was taken in Hungary - Budapest will allow you to get ice cream or 4 small apples or 1 hamburger.
Are you surprised what one dollar can buy in another country? I was. Money becomes less valued when compared to our currency. America has been on a bit of a downward spiral. It takes so much more to live maybe the tiny house movement has more merit than ever before. Stop going bigger and bigger. Learn to do with less. Not have the latest and greatest thing out to make your life more comfortable. It seems we have been deceived into the wrong line of thinking. We need to go back to a simpler way of living so that we are not living to get, but living to enjoy ourselves without all the bills hanging over our heads.
The Bible does tell us who we owe money to is our master. Maybe we have fallen into a different kind of slavery? Working more and more hours to provide for our families but having less time for them. Be careful how you spend your money, live within your means. Has Jesus spoke to you in this lesson? He did me.
